As far as desk clocks go, we would agree that this ZER00:00 device, known simply as ‘The Clock’, may not be especially desirable, certainly in terms of some of the stunning clocks we’ve previously featured here on EP – but there’s just something about the premise of this design that appeals to us.
This is a clock stripped of all but the essentials. Devoid of eye-candy, this clock serves as a digital time telling device that is distilled to its purest form. A circuit board, an LCD display and a battery that happens to also serve as a stand – it is, if you like, the skeleton of any number of digital clocks with the flesh of stylised packaging removed. It’s almost the result of some kind of post-mortem.
For all the cool aesthetic embellishments, the stylised shells, the bolted-on additional functions, this is the very essence of all digital clocks and its simplicity is both as novel as it is refreshing.
